Enjoy your trips this summer with baby, follow these useful travel tips.
- If your baby drinks baby formula, consider bringing along a powdered form of it for the trip. The powdered formula is great to travel with it doesn't have to be refridgerated and it's easy to prepare. Just add water and you've got dinner!
- Consider traveling at your baby's nap time. If baby naps around noon, try leaving an hour earlier, baby will likely drift off soon into the trip and hopefully nap for a couple of hours. For a short car trip, you may be there before or shortly after baby wakes up! For longer car trips, you may want to consider traveling around baby's bed time, just be sure you are well rested for the drive ahead.
- Snacks are always a sure distraction for baby. Bring some healthy finger food favorites for your baby in case he gets frustrated on the ride.
- Make frequent stops. If your baby is awake, try to stop every hour for at least 15 minutes. Older babies will love to get out and stretch or run around and younger babies will enjoy the change of scenery.
- Bring along some toys for the ride. Bring some new ones baby hasn't seen in a while to keep her interest longer, but also bring some of her favorites.
- The plastic grocery bags you get from the grocery store are great for dirty diapers. Bring a few along for the trip to keep the smell out of the car until you've got a garbage to put it in.
Must have's for the trip - These are things that you should be sure to bring along
- Baby Sun Hat
- Baby Sun Screen
- Baby Swim Diapers, these are a must if you don't want your baby's diaper to get all saggy!
- Baby Life Jacket or built in floating bathing suit. It's always best to be safe when baby is around water.
- Baby Gate: A baby gate enclosure is great for keeping your baby out of danger for short periods of time.
- Beach Umbrella: This is great for any long period out door time. Even with sunscreen, your baby shouldn't be exposed to sunlight for long periods of time.
- Outdoor toys: If you're on the beach, bring some sand toys along.
- Baby stroller or wagon: This gives your baby an instant bed any time she decides to get sleepy. No matter where you are, your baby can be kept out of the sun and have a nap. A wagon makes for lots of fun on the beach, older babies love being pulled around and being able to put shells and other fun beach toys inside the wagon!
- Bring enough water for your baby and be sure he drinks it. Hot weather can cause dehydration.
Traveling with an infant is actually quite easy, since they sleep much of the time. However, traveling with an older baby, can prove more difficult. These tips should make for a pleasant trip for you and your baby. Enjoy your summer. |
